"Boise State, Army, New Mexico State, Villanova and Colorado State have offered me and I'm still hearing from Stanford, UCLA, Wisconsin and Oregon. Nebraska (where his older brother Joshua plays), is also recruiting me, but only for track."
Mitchell has two official visits set up, and then he's planning to take in a couple of in-state Pac-12 games.
"I'm going to Colorado State on October 6th when they play Fresno State and to Boise State when they play Colorado State on November 17th and then I'm going to Stanford for a couple of games and for sure the UCLA game when they play Nebraska," said Mitchell.
Mitchell said no schools are leading for him at this point.
"I'm treating everyone fairly, and I'll go where they have the best to offer me," said Mitchell. "I don't want to favor anyone and knock someone off."
Mitchell said he'd like to take all five official visits, but is unsure when the other three will be.
In the meantime, Mitchell and his Roosevelt squad are prepping for their 2012 season with a 3-way scrimmage today with Temecula Chaparral and Paloma Valley before opening their season against CIF-SS champions Tustin next week.
Academically, he has a 3.7 GPA and took the SAT in the spring.
Last fall, Mitchell had 33 tackles and three interceptions with 12 pass breakups as a junior.
