Thornton Township High defensive lineman Jerome Jenkins has high expectations for the talented group of seniors on the Harvey, Ill. based team.
"Its going well, a lot of conditioning and getting ready for the season," Jenkins said of the offseason.
He added, "I just want to win state and make my school, family and friends pround. Just all about giving my school a good name."
That is something that Jenkins is looking to do, by improving his own game.
"I have improved my strength," Jenkins said. "And gotten more flexible, I am smarter on the field and just trying to get better."
And it isn't just Jenkins getting better at Thornton Township.
"I feel like the defensive line Is the strength of our team," Jenkins said. "Because we have the most attitude on the field, and make everyone else look good."
So what sets him apart from the rest? To Jenkins, the answer is pretty straightforward.
"I am smart on the field and I know my assignment," Jenkins said. "I have speed for a big person and I can go out and help people out and key people out and block."
And several schools are taking notice.
Although he is still waiting his first offer, he has plans to visit sevearl schools this fall -- just no official dates yet.
