Marvin Stewart Jr. camped at Wake Forest this summer and came away with an offer from the Demon…
Two other schools are also showing a significant amount of interest in Stewart.
"JMU and N.C. State are also recruiting me," he said. "I think they could offer. I think I just have to come out the first few games prove to them that I'm worth giving an offer to."
Despite the interest he has already received from college programs, there is a conference that appeals to him.
"I would like to hear from the SEC," said the 6-foot, 185-pound Stewart. "I don't have any school in particular, but I have always liked that SEC style of play – hard-hitting, fast-paced style of play."
While Stewart is not sure about what schools he will visit this fall, he already has an idea of what he is looking for in a college.
"I've been thinking about either (majoring in) sports medicine or engineering, but I'm still not sure," he said. "I also want to go to a big school – a school with a great environment and great teachers. As far as football, I just want to go somewhere that the coaches are going to make me better because I want to improve on my game every day. I want to go to a good football program and a school where I can possibly play early."
Last season, Stewart had 1,596 yards rushing, 251 yards receiving, and 31 total touchdowns. Stewart said most schools are recruiting him as an athlete. He could play running back, cornerback, wide receiver, or safety in college – but has no preference. Yorktown opens their season on August 31 against Bowie (Md.) High.
