Chad Kanoff (6'4/195) is a 3-Star quarterback prospect from the
Harvard-Westlake School in Hollywood, Calif. who is committed to Vanderbilt. He
had a big game in a losing effort against Loyola including three touchdowns.
Kanoff has very good size and stands tall in the pocket. He calls most of his
plays at the line of scrimmage running an up tempo four and five wide receiver
spread offense. He has a quick release and makes his reads, including hot reads
against blitzes, very well.
Kanoff usually throws an accurate ball. He doesn't have a strong arm, but he
puts the ball where it needs to be and gets rid of it quickly. At times he
throws the ball off his back foot, causing the ball to float on him.
When he sets his feet, he drops the ball exactly where it needs to be. I had
visions of Danny Wuerffel lobbing passes all over the field in Steve Spurrier's
Fun 'n Gun at Florida. Like Wuerffel, Kanoff isn't going to blow anyone away
with his arm strength, but he's going to gobble up huge chunks of yardage.
Here is a look at Kanoff and his Harvard-Westlake team in action on the season's
opener against a good Loyola squad that includes heavily recruited 3-Star
cornerback Cameron Walker (#3).
