Although he has no official offers on the table, Christian Herrera of Junipero Serra High School (Ca) is garnering interest from UCLA, Air Force, California and Missouri.
Heading into his senior season, each program shares a common interest for Herrera.
“They all want film,” Herrera said. “Last year I didn’t have a ton so they’re all waiting for a few games this year.”
Out of each school showing interest, one in particular has Herrera’s interest over the others. He also recently took a trip there.
“I liked my trip to Cal a lot,” he said. “The business school is third in the nation. The stadium is great and the coaches are awesome. It’s just a family atmosphere up there.”
“Coach Gould, who does the recruiting down here, likes what he saw from me. He’ll be down here for a few games this season.”
Herrera is confident in his ability to play at the next level and hopes to prove it this season to each school showing interest in him.
“I’m looking forward to working hard and getting after it and showing coaches I’m an athlete.”
“I want to prove I’m the hardest working player they’re going to get. With me, it’s more about the off the field stuff like looking at film and breaking offenses and knowing your opponent that much better.”
With talent like Adoree Jackson, Dwight Williams, Jalen Greene, Ardis Perez, and Nick Usher, the feeling around Junipero Serra is a familiar one to Herrera.
“What it reminds me of is when I was a sophomore and George(Farmer) and Marquise (Lee) were here. It’s that intensity they brought every day in the weight room and on the practice field and not screwing around and getting after it.”
Herrera also added he has a 3.6 GPA and will stay patient in the recruiting process.
