Clements Looking For Quick Return
Trotwood-Madison (OH) defensive tackle Jarrod Clements was disappointed in having to miss the opener last Sunday against Fort Lauderdale University School in the Crosstwon Showdown in Cincinnati. The three-star prospect, who is committed to Illinois, is still recovering from a knee injury but his return to action might not be that far off. "My injury actually happened last season but I kept playing," Clements stated. "It kept hurting me and when I had the MRI they discovered the ACL tear. I had surgery and I'm hoping to be back in the next 3 to 4 weeks. Everything is going well with my rehab, and the doctors say I will be as good as ever when I come back." "If this team can make it back to the championship game it would still allow me to play almost a full season," he added. "I'm expecting to play 15 games and win a state championship with my teammates." Even with the knee bothering him, Clements, 6-foot-3, 260-pounds, impressed earlier this summer at various camps and combines. "My strength is my ability to get off the ball and provide a serious pass rush," Clements admitted. "I love to play inside and create pressure up the middle. I play a physical style of football, and that's what I'm proud of." Clements committed to Illinois earlier this past spring, a decision he has never looked back on. "Other schools are trying to recruit me, but I won't talk to other schools at all because I'm totally sold on Illinois," he stressed. "I'm looking forward to getting up there and being a part of the program. Illinois is also recruiting a lot of our younger guys, and I'm going to be in their ear about joining me there."
