Over the course of four quarters last Friday, the Cleveland Glenville offensive line managed to wear down the smaller Solon team, as the Tarblooders won 40-17 in Ohio high school action.
Junior offensive tackle Marcelys Jones was one of the keys to the win, as the 6-foot-4, 325-pounder helped control the line play for Glenville.
"I think I played really well tonight, especially my run blocking," Jones stated. "I tried to be the attacker and get into my man right off the snap of the ball. I tried to lock him up right away and not let him get off my block."
"Our whole line played great, and we needed this win really bad after losing last week," he added. "I need to keep listening to my coaches and learning what they expect from me. I also need to get in better shape, and I'd like to lose some weight, so I can go both ways. I'd love to play defensive tackle, because I love hitting quarterbacks and runningbacks."
Although Jones has no offers to date, he has several top schools showing interest. He plans to visit Ohio State for their opener against Miami of Ohio.
"It will be great to visit Ohio State, and they are my favorite school," Jones stated after the game. "I speak to Coach (Stan) Drayton every week and we have a great relationship. They tell me to keep working hard and to get my weight down a little bit."
"I'm also hearing from Michigan, Michigan State, Arizona State and Illinois," he continued. "I don't have any offers yet, but hopefully I can change that by playing well all season."
