Jones Holds Two Offers

Dante Jones had an impressive spring and summer. The Southeast Raleigh High (Raleigh, N.C) cornerback/wide receiver went to several camps and combines. His efforts were rewarded with his first two scholarship offers – Duke and Appalachian State.

The season started out rough for Dante Jones. Early on, Jones and several of his teammates were hurt, but have since bounced back, and Southeast Raleigh is 3-0. Due to his play over the past few weeks, Jones has heard from several schools.

"Last week, I had a very good game," said Jones. "Since then, I have heard from Appalachian State, Old Dominion, UNC, Middle Tennessee, South Carolina, Gardner-Webb and UConn. I think Old Dominion or Middle Tennessee will be the next to offer. Appalachian State is recruiting me the hardest."

Jones has not made any major decisions regarding the recruiting process.

"I'm still kind of wide open right now," he said. "As the season progresses, I'm going to slowly start eliminating some schools."

Now that college football season is also underway, Jones is eyeing some college visits.

"I know for a fact I will go to games at UNC, Middle Tennessee, Duke, and Appalachian State," Jones said. "I also might go to UConn and South Carolina."

Over the next couple of weeks, Jones plans to evaluate all the schools recruiting him.

"I want to narrow it down to at least three (schools), hopefully around the Garner game (10/19)," he said. "I would like to make my decision by New Year's."

Southeast Raleigh takes on Wake Forest-Rolesville tomorrow night.
