Week three of the Illinois High School football season didn't provide much drama as most of the FOX Sports NEXT Top 25 stayed in tact. However, several teams are making a run up the rankings. How do the polls shake out entering week four?
|
A highly-anticipated season of Illinois High School football has not disappointed through the first three weeks of the season. Many of the state's preseason darlings have stayed as such while several sleepers have climbed the ladders of the FOX Sports NEXT rankings.
Illinois' top talent has been on display, too, through the first three games, leading coaches from across the country to recruiting in the Land of Lincoln. Similar to the sleeper teams, there are numerous sleeper prospects in Illinois.
Who can make the case as one of the state of Illinois' greatest sleeper prospects? The FOX Sports NEXT Illinois High School experts make their cases for several of the state's under-the-radar prospects.
Allen Trieu - National Recruiting Analyst, FOX Sports NEXT
I really like this kid Kaprix Sloan out of Granite City. He's definitely a sleeper. He doesn't have any offers, and he's a senior, but he's a great player who doesn't get the pub I think he deserves and I see someone getting a steal there.
Beth Long - Midwest Field Reporter, FOX Sports NEXT
I think the prospect that I would pick as the best sleeper prospect in the state is Bolingbrook High's 2013 running back Omar Stover. I saw Stover week one and he really looked like he had improved his overall field vision, and really looked quick. He is a prospect that I am excited to see more from and think any team that gets, is getting a good one.
Chris Emma - Publisher/Reporter, PurpleWildcats.com
"Nobody is talking about Benet Academy's jack-of-all-trades player Porter Ontko, but give it time; he's just a junior. Ontko may be Illinois' best pound-for-pound prospect, and he's making a case for more. Ontko is without an offer ... for now."

Ryan Easterling - Reporter, IllinoisPlaybook.com
"One guy who I think is going to continue to have a huge year is Ottawa's Miguel Hermosillo. He plays at a small high school just outside of Dekalb, Illinois, but through three games he's already averaging over 250 yards rushing per game and trucked a guy hard enough to give him a serious concussion Friday night."
