Coman Adjusting to Life Away From Home
Kivon Coman profile "It has been hard getting used to being away from home," said Coman. "I miss seeing my daughter most of all. "I miss being able to do what I want to do and hang out with friends and all of that. "This is all real different than what I am used to." Coman expected to be on campus at Mississippi State learning the ropes of life and times in the SEC. Now the talented safety is working towards a January enrollment in Starkville. "I am up here and I need half a credit and I just need to maintain my ACT score," said Coman. "I am working hard to get everything handled." The Alabama All-Star reports that he will have a new appreciation for college life when he finally joins his teammates in January. "I can't wait to get there," said Coman of Mississippi State. "All of this has taught me not to take anything for granted and to appreciate everything a lot more. "The biggest lesson I have learned is that you just need to do things the right way the first time and you won't have to deal with this sort of thing." Coman reports that his time at Hargrave has been aided by a familiar face who will be following him to Mississippi State, Artimas Samuel. "I am rooming with Artimas," said Coman. "He's the only person that has really helped me get through this up here. "We're just helping each other and we're working together to make the best of things." Coman reports that his team is having some success on the football field and that has helped his morale. "We're 3-0," said Coman. "We're playing pretty good, but I am ready to get to school and get to work with my team." News from Starkville is relayed on a daily basis, by Coman's cousin Beniquez Brown. "I talk to him everyday," said Coman. "He's telling me what's going on down there and how everybody's doing. "I am excited about the team. It just seems like everybody is coming together as one unit. "I talk to Coach (Chris) Wilson and Coach (Geoff) Collins and they tell me to keep my head up and be ready to work when I get down there. "I know three DBs are seniors, so I am going down there in January to earn a spot."
