Booth Taking Visits, Has Decision in Mind

Indianapolis Pike (Ind.) junior wide receiver Dominique Booth knows when he'd like to commit, and is taking unofficial visits in an effort to work closer to that decision day.

As it has been for many of the Midwest's top juniors since September 1st, Dominique Booth, an explosive receiver from Indianapolis Pike, has had a high volume of mail sent to him. The schools have ranged from those who have already offered him to some he hadn't heard from before that day.

"Every day I get handwritten letters from Alabama, and I didn't talk to them before September 1st, so it was out of nowhere. I get five handwritten letters a day from them. It's weird because I hadn't heard from them before. Michigan sent me a few handwritten letters. Michigan State does that every day. On September 1st, Iowa sent seven in one day. It's good to see how interested they are in me. Those schools recruit me the hardest when it comes to mail."

Last weekend, the 6'0, 190-lb Booth visited Ohio State. The Buckeyes have not offered yet, but are very interested, while their opponent, California, has offered and is a school he has visited and has ties to, as his uncle played there.

"It was really good," he said of the visit. "I thought it was good on both sides. It was a good game to see both Ohio State and Cal. Both teams did really good to me. I like both offenses. They both throw the ball, and Ohio State's atmosphere is incredible. The fans support them and the tailgates and things like that are great. After the game, I got to go to the locker room and I was one of the only ones in there. There were like 30 recruits and only me and four other recruits got to go in. I didn't know they were interested in me like that. I got to talk to the coaches for awhile."

During that conversation, Booth had a chance to find out where he stands with regards to an offer.

"My dad talked to the guys and they're breaking down high school film, and I guess he said they're not taking many receivers, just one or two, so they want to try to be sure about it. They're going to watch film of the whole year before they decide to offer me. I talked to Coach Meyer and Coach Smith, the receivers coach for awhile about my season. I talked to Devin [Smith] a little bit and Coach Coombs."

Booth has taken a couple of other visits this year, and he says one that really stood out was Missouri.

"It was crazy. It was loud. It was nice though, probably the best atmosphere I've ever been in for a football game. You see it on TV, but to experience it is different. We had a game that morning, since our game got cancelled until Saturday morning, so when we got there, the game had already started. I didn't get to see everything pregame, but when we came in, people were outside in groups with radios out. That was pretty nice and all that and game was good. They proved they can hang in the SEC. After the game, we talked for awhile about the season and that was pretty much it. I hung out with 2013 commits afterwards. We went to a pizza place and talked."

The visits will not stop there, as Booth hopes to see enough to be able to make a decision in the somewhat near future.

"I'm going to a lot of games. I want to make a decision at the end of the season, so I want to go to a lot of games this season. I'm going to Notre Dame this weekend and the weekend after that, I'm going [back] to Illinois."

On the season, Booth has 29 receptions for 370 yards and five touchdowns. The Red Devils are currently 3-2. Recommended Stories
