"I just committed to UCLA," he tells FOX Sports NEXT.
"They've been on top for a while, and then my official visit completely confirmed it."
Ortiz announced the news of his decision on Sunday morning.
"I decided to call Coach Mazzone today and let him know that I'm committed to being a Bruin," Ortiz shares.
"He was excited; he was a little surprised I think. You could hear the offensive staff yelling in the background, so it was a good feeling to know how excited they were."
There were several factors that sold the recruit on Westwood.
"I felt the most comfortable on campus there and I feel like it's the place that will set me up best to succeed in life," he states.
"I don't know yet," he says. "I'll have to sit down and talk with my family and see if I still want to take them or be done."
Regardless, he is sure about one thing.
"My commitment is 100% solid," says Ortiz. "I'm going to be a Bruin."
"It's a great program on the rise that's headed in the right direction, and I want to be a part of it."
