Every year, there are players who emerge as solid players during their senior campaign. Even though not a lot of activity is going on in the recruitment of Houston (TX) Cy Falls defensive back Devin Mack, he looks for this to change in the near future.
In the recent win, the 5-foot-10 175-pound Mack was all over the field making plays. He ended with about 10 tackles and two pass break-ups. In the run game, he was active in getting off the receiver’s blocks to make plays.
“I think I did pretty good. Defense came together and played well and made a couple of fourth-down stops,” Mack said. “This was probably one of our best games this year. For me, I was able to cover a couple receivers and limit the big plays. It was all about instinct and being in the right place at the right time. I read my keys and do what I am supposed to do.”
That he did. Mack was solid in pass coverage, showing good feet and hips. He made nice breaks on the balls, though he was not tested too often.
So far, as stated, programs have not been making a lot of contact.
“Really, Rice and Texas State that’s all. I am open to hearing from more schools,” Mack said.
More performances like last week and that could happen.
