Hartland Arrowhead's Tom Kirsch has a 6'5, 250-lb frame that schools look for in offensive tackle prospects, and although his recruiting process is just beginning, he is already hearing from a couple of BCS schools.
"I've gotten a couple letters from Madison," he said. "I've heard from Iowa State. Last week, they came to the school and my coach introduced me."
Arrowhead is likely to have many more coaches come through as they have a talented junior class which includes defensive lineman Billy Hirschfeld, linebacker Matt Seitz, and fellow offensive lineman George Panos, a Wisconsin commit.
Kirsch says the two haven't talked too much about recruiting, but he did get a chance to see the school Panos is going to last weekend, and a school that he, as a lifelong Wisconsin resident, has grown up with.
"That was really cool. They took the first time people up on a tour of Camp Randall and I got to see the facilities they have and the weight room. They're remodeling and it's cool to see what they're going to be like. It was my first Badger game. It was cool to see the game. It makes me want to go there. I've been a Wisconsin fan all my life."
This season has not started out the way Kirsch envisioned, as an injury has kept him out, but he will be back out there this week.
"I play right tackle," he explained. "I played both JV and varsity last year. I started one game [on varsity]. This year, I had some bad luck and dislocated my knee. I'm just starting to come back. I'm getting back into the game and will probably play a couple series on Friday."
