We knew Johnny Stanton (6'3/225) of Santa Margarita High School in Rancho
Santa Margarita Calif. was tough. After all, we saw him run over and through
many of Southern California's top teams as a junior.
But what he did on Friday night was put his Santa Margarita team on his back and
will them to victory over a tough St. Bonaventure team, all while playing part
of the game on a torn ACL.
Stanton is headed to Nebraska and his knee injury should have no effect on his
future with the Cornhuskers (analysis),
but Stanton was limping noticeably in the fourth quarter of the big matchup with
St. Bonaventure. He was still able to secure a key first down while basically
hopping on one leg in the fourth.
Here is a look at Stanton's final game with Santa Margarita. It shows what he's
capable of on good wheels, and shows his heart when he's only playing on one.
