Robert Washington visits Duke
Robert Washington traveled from North Carolina to Ole Miss a couple of weeks ago to see the Rebels host Texas. The 2016 RB, who holds an Ole Miss offer, followed up with a short trip to Durham on Saturday to watch Duke/Memphis. "Robert, Conner (O'Donnell) and Aapri (Washington) visited Duke," Robert Washington, Sr. said. "The head coach (David Cutcliffe) requested to meet them. Duke has high interest in the boys." Washington, the father of Robert, says the Blue Devils could offer any or all of the young studs from SouthLake Christian in the future. Meanwhile, father and son continue to check out college campuses. "We're going to North Carolina this weekend and N.C. State/Florida State the following week," dad said. "Got a trip to Wake Forest the week after the state championship games in North Carolina, and then a later trip to Mississippi State (probably Nov.)." It's a thrilling time at SouthLake Christian, a young program that is undefeated in 2012. "The most important thing for Robert is getting that Christian foundation he's receiving at SouthLake," dad said. "He could have gone to any powerhouse and played. "Since he came in to SouthLake, eight or nine players have transferred in from powerhouses. With the influx of players, the team has scored over 200 this year and only allowed up 16 points. The media doesn't cover the school much yet, and we're relatively unknown." Dad says the Duke visit was enjoyable. "Robert met Coach Cutcliffe," he said. "(Cutcliffe) sized Robert up when he shook his hand. Robert loves Duke and met Jela Duncan from Charlotte while we were there. "Duke has a Division 1 Ivy League feel to it. I didn't grow up a Duke fan, but now I go on what's the best fit for my child. We've visited two top-ranked schools the past couple of weeks with Ole Miss and Duke. Both have great academics."
