James Hearns (6'3/235) stands out on the field for Lincoln High School in
Tallahassee, Fla. as one of the biggest players on the field. He has no problem
playing big either. Hearns is a physical presence in the middle of the Trojans
defense and is more comfortable attacking the line of scrimmage than moving
Part of that comfort may stem from a knee injury he had as a junior as he looks
considerably quicker attacking a ball carrier or rushing the quarterback than
turning and pursuing sideline to sideline.
Hearns is a Florida Gator commitment, and physically he looks ready to compete
as a run stuffer at middle linebacker.
Here is a look at Hearns in action in a game against St. Paul of Covington, La.
televised by FOX Sports Florida earlier this year. Hearns came up with a load of
big hits, including pressure up the middle on a play that might have saved the
game for the Trojans in a 14-13 win.
