"Man, it was a great trip, I loved everything about it," Kelly said. "I camped there in the summer so I saw a lot of the campus and facilities at that time already. On this visit, I was able to experience the game atmosphere and also spend more time with the coaches and the academic advisers.
"I talked with the athletic director and the academic advisers for quite a bit. They told me that 90% of the football players graduate with their degrees and go on to get great jobs because of the prestige of the degree. That really means a lot to me and I liked that the visit wasn't all about just about football."
Of course football was a big reason for why the trip went so well for Kelly.
"They had a big win over Stanford and the crowd was incredible," Kelly said. "The defense played really well and you can see the affect the new coaching staff has already had on the defense. I spent a lot of time with all the coaches and especially Coach Heyward, the DB coach and I really like him a lot.
"It was cool being there with Johnny Johnson and Chris Hawkins as well, we were like the three amigos the whole visit. Brandon Beaver and Shaq Thompson were my hosts and we got along great. I definitely feel comfortable at Washington and I have a great vibe with everything there. They lose a starting corner so there's a spot there to compete for. Overall, it was a perfect visit and gave me a lot to think about."
How solid is Kelly with his commitment to UCLA?
"I still love UCLA, I'm still a solid commit there," Kelly said. "It's a long way between now and Signing Day though and I just need to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Both schools have a lot to offer and I still need to take my official visit to UCLA of course.
"UCLA being close to home is obviously the biggest difference between the two schools but that won't play that big of a role for me. I think I can play at both schools pretty early and I have a good relationship with the players and coaches at both schools.
"It's going to be about where I'm most comfortable and like I said, right now, I'm still solid with UCLA. I might take another official visit and that will probably be Oregon State because they're recruiting our quarterback, Jihad Vercher. We're best friends so it would be fun to visit with him but UCLA and Washington are the main two schools I'm considering."
