Orlando (Fla.) Evans standout wide receiver Tony Stevens has been a long time pledge to Florida State. Then last week he said via Twitter he was no longer committed the Seminoles. Now he’s back with FSU, according to his coach Chip Gierke.
“Tony is rock solid with Florida State,” Gierke said. “That was all just a bunch of stuff. You know how things are these days. But he has talked with FSU and they are all good and that’s where he’s going to school. As far as I am concerned is that this subject is closed.”
Stevens, a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 26 ranked wideout, is having a fantastic ’12 campaign according to Gierke. In fact, he says he’s been more valuable on defense.
“Tony has been awesome and playing on both sides of the ball,” Gierke said. “He has made more of an impact for us on defense as a free safety. That kid is the best player in central Florida.”
Stevens is 6-foot-3 and 185-pounds. He has stated in a few conversations with Scout.com that he intends to make official visits to other schools like Ohio State, South Carolina and South Florida. That remains to be seen.
Evans is 4-1 on the season and they take on Winter Park this Friday.
