With the abundance of talent throughout the West Coast, it's inevitable that some standout players could remain under the radar.

Case in point: Wilsonville (Ore.) athlete Johnny Ragin III.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect picked up early offers from BYU and Portland State, and nabbed his third from Oregon State in August. He also scored a coveted invited to participate in Nike's The Opening in July.

However, as the midway point of his senior season approaches, his recruitment has plateaued. Ragin, however, remains confident that more offers are headed his way.

"I've been keeping in touch with a lot of the Pac-12 schools like Utah, Washington, Washington State, California, UCLA, and Oregon. I've also recently started talking to Michigan State and I've been talking with Notre Dame a little bit. I just sent out my mid-season highlights, so I'm waiting to hear back," he said.

Of those programs, Ragin says UCLA, California, and Oregon are recruiting him the hardest; he had the opportunity to visit the latter last weekend as the Ducks defeated Washington, 52-21.

"I just went with one of my friends and toured the facilities before the game with a couple of the recruits. They have great facilities, some of the best in the country no doubt. The atmosphere at the stadium is always great. It's always loud and the fans are really into it. It seems like it would be a great place to play," he said.

Autzen Stadium isn't too far away from Ragin's home, and he's had the opportunity to take a few unofficial visits this season, noting the improvement Oregon's play.

"Their offense has quickened a lot more throughout the season. As the season goes on, you can tell some teams are improving and Oregon continues to get better week in and week out. They are getting less penalties and just playing better," he said.

Ragin continues to receive positive feedback from the staff.

"Coach Don Pellum, the linebackers coach, said that the have been looking over my film and are liking what they see. I just sent them my mid-season highlight tape, so once they get a chance to look over it this week, they'll be in contact," he said.

As he waits patiently, Ragin continues to leave it all on the field each Friday night, recording 38 tackles, ten sacks, a forced/recovered fumble, and two pass deflections in the first six games of the season. He's also had 17 carries for 163 yards and seven receptions for 86 yards.

"I just want coaches to know that I am willing to work hard to get the starting spot on the team and I feel like I'm a game changer on either side of the ball. I feel like I could help out the team in any way. I'm a versatile player and have the ability to play on a lot of spots on the field, and play them well," he said.
