ACC school checks in on Maryland commit

Kingsley Opara is a talented defensive line prospect from Mandarin High and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Kingsley Opara is one of the premier defensive line prospects in north Florida this year and he talked about his senior season.

"The season is going good and we just came off a bye week," Opara said. "We are now 2-4. I have six sacks, 20 tackles, 10 for a loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery."

Opara, 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, made an early commitment to Maryland and remains pledged to them. He talked about the season they're having.

"It's great, I'm impressed," he said. "They are ranked top ten on defense in almost every category."

Opara likes his chances of going in and playing right away for the Terps.

"They have two guys graduating so from what I'm told I will have to grow up fast."

Despite his commitment to Maryland, Opara is still being recruited by other schools.

"NC State came and visited my school, and Ole Miss is showing interest," he said. "There are no visits planned unless I get another offer from one these schools or any others."

NC State is a new school in the mix and he talked about them.

"I'm really interested in them," he said. "They beat FSU and my friend, Tylar Reagan, commited there. And my sister went to school at Duke so I'm familar with the North Carolina area."
