Layton (Utah) receiver Marcus Kemp was on Norm Chow's radar when Chow was the offensive coordinator at Utah.
But even with Chow now at Hawaii, that didn't change his interest in Kemp.
Kemp got an offer from the Warriors, and on Tuesday, committed to Hawaii.
"I did commit to Hawaii," said Kemp. "The coaching staff is great and who wouldn't want to go to Hawaii."
The coaching staff made a big impression on Kemp.
"I was recruited by Coach (Lewis) Powell and I committed to Coach Chow," said Kemp.
Kemp can play a number of positions, but receiver is the position Hawaii wants him to play.
"I'm pretty positive they want me just as a receiver, but we'll see when I get out there," said Kemp.
The decision was a relief to Kemp.
"I'm very excited and relieved," said Kemp. "I can't wait to play football at the next level."
Kemp has 31 receptions for 615 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 50 tackles this season for the Lancers.
