Raleigh, N.C. – Last season, Millbrook High School struggled to find a quarterback. However, that has not been the case this fall. Junior Lemar Harris has become one of the team’s best players.

Millbrook’s football team has struggled through an injury-plagued season, but Lemar Harris has developed into one of the top quarterbacks in the Raleigh area.

“The season hasn't gone how planned at the beginning of the year, but we are getting better every day,” said Harris. “Every week in practice, I feel like we are improving. So, we are just going to continue to work hard and hopefully it will show on the field.”

As a player, Harris has felt more comfortable this fall.

“I played some as a starter last year, so I was kind of experienced coming into this year,” said the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Harris. “It’s just great to feel like you are a bigger part of the team and feel in control on the field. It’s just been a good experience.”

“I feel like I’m a dual-threat (quarterback),” Harris said. “I have a quick release and I’m very accurate. I also have good strength and speed.”

“I ran a 4.45 (second 40-yard dash) here at school, and then I ran a 4.51 at (North) Carolina over the summer.”

Harris could play several positions at the next level. As the recruiting process progresses, he will find out where schools want him to play.

“(North) Carolina is recruiting me as an athlete and I haven’t really talked about it with other schools,” he said. “Carolina, N.C. State, Duke, Purdue, and ECU are the schools that are recruiting me.”

“I would like to hear from Georgia and Clemson.”

Harris will likely visit some schools in the near future.

“I’m going to visit Carolina and N.C. State,” he said.

While recruiting is important, Harris is more concerned about finishing his season strong.

“We just want to win out the rest of the season, make it to the playoffs, and hopefully go to the state championship.”

Millbrook takes on Wake Forest-Rolesville tomorrow night.
