A recent decommitment from Iowa, David Kenney made it official today and committed to Indiana, a move long rumored to be happening.
His father, David Kenney Sr., works for the program as a quality control assistant, and after coaching his son for a year at Pike, the two will be together again in college.
"It feels great. Honestly, my dad did a good job of trying to get me to reconsider. He's a good coach and he does a good job."
The Hoosiers already flipped one local star, Ben Davis safety Antonio Allen, and there are other Indianapolis area standouts considering them. Kenney is hoping others join him.
"It's awesome," he said of the in-state pride. "Hopefully, we all can come there."
Beyond the family and local ties, Kenney says the instant opportunity was another big factor.
"They said that I would most definitely be on the field like a 3rd down [pass rush specialist] and they said that if I put on some more weight then I could start."
Now that he's a Hoosier, Kenney's answer was simple when asked if he would recruit other top in-state guys to join him in Bloomington.
