Maynard Takes Iowa Visit

Minneapolis Washburn (Minn.) junior FB Raymonte Maynard talks about his first visit to Iowa.

The Minneapolis Washburn backfield tandem of Jeffrey Jones and Raymonte Maynard visited Iowa on Saturday, and the 5'11, 197-lb Maynard had a chance to speak with the coaches for the first time.

"After the game, because they lost, I wasn't able to get in the locker room and get one on one time, but before the game, they said they were interested and they might offer me," he said.

Maynard noted the atmosphere at Iowa, especially during a close, hotly contested Big Ten game.

"There were a lot of people there. The fans were really into the game and the crowd was loud."

Maynard has played some fullback, but carries the ball as well. He says he is being recruited by the Hawkeyes as a running back though.

Currently, he says he does not know of any other visits, but he does know that if an Iowa offer comes, they would be in high consideration.

"Yeah, I would definitely be interested," he admitted.
