O'Fallon (Ill.) junior defensive end Dewayne Hendrix picks up an in-state offer as his first one…
Hendrix Goes from Zero to Three
A long, athletic 6'5, 240-lb defensive end, Dewayne Hendrix had a big day today. In-state program Illinois was the first to offer, then Kansas State and Mississippi joined in, and by the end of the day, he had gone from no offers to three. "It just felt really good," he said. "All my hard work paid off. It felt good. I mean, I always knew I was capable, but it was kind of a surprise." Hendrix will visit Illinois this weekend along with teammate Darius Mosely, a 2013 commit for the Illini, and it will not be his first time there. "I've been up there. It's a great school," he said. As for visiting Kansas State and Ole Miss, "Yes sir, I will visit them. I haven't really decided when yet, but I know we're going." The Wildcats are the number one team in the land right now, and that carries some weight with Hendrix. "I've paid close attention [to their season]. I'm really honored. Them offering me, now I know that the sky's the limit." As for the Rebels offer, Hendrix says the distance between O'Fallon and Oxford will not be an issue. He is simply making sure he continues to take care of business, so that more opportunities may come his way. "I'm just focused on my grades."
