Perez Exploring Options
Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker Ardis Perez has had a strong senior season, picking up some offers along the way. The most recent highlight for Perez was the Cavaliers' 58-6 victory over Santa Monica (Calif.) in the second round of playoffs. "It was a great game. We came out strong; our coach told us to come out and execute on both sides of the ball. They got in our head a little in the beginning, but we got over that and played strong. Our defense held them to six points, so it was pretty good," he said. Since the off-season ended, Perez can see a big improvement in his performance, opening up some options on the field. "I'm much more mobile as a player now. I've gotten faster since the beginning of the season, so I have been playing safety as well as linebacker, moving around on the field to help our defense," he said. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound prospect holds offers from Idaho, Air Force, and Azusa Pacific, and has been hearing from Portland State, Washington State, San Diego State, and Iowa State. "Idaho and Air Force are standing out right now. I like that they both want me to come in and play right now. that's a great thing. They don't care where I play on defense, they just want me on the field," he said. Since his team has furthered in playoffs, Perez is waiting to take his trips. "I'm going to take some visit after the season so I can get a good feeling and then I'll decide from there," he said.
