Following a redshirt year at EMCC, Johnson put together a superb freshman season. The dual threat threw for 2,846 yards and 27 touchdowns to go along with 540 rushing yards and 12 scores of his own.
"They have a senior starter this year," said Johnson. "Since I redshirted last year, I am going to have three years to play three once I get down there.
"I am going to work hard to learn the system and try to earn the starting job and be the starter for three years."
Johnson commits to the Owls over an offer from Tennessee-Martin among others and strong interest from Houston and Southern Miss.
