Catching up with K.J. McElvaney
Jeffersontown defensive back K.J. McElvaney might be one of the most underrated players in Kentucky. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior is beginning to see his college interests pick up now that his season is over. McElvaney was recently named all-district and is coming off a season where he had 26 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. "I was a big part of the defense," said McElvaney. "I locked down a lot of good receivers. I have gotten better by my break on the ball, my ball reaction and making tackles. And I've gotten better in man-to-man coverage," he said. McElvaney, who was also named to the East vs. West Kentucky All-Star game is seeing his recruiting begin to take shape. "Recruiting is going good. I'm planning on taking visits to Tennessee-Martin, Illinois State, Western Kentucky, Murray State, Southern Illinois and also Indiana State," he said. McElvaney really feels like Southern Illinois is close to pulling the trigger with an offer. "I think Southern Illinois wants me. They loved my film. They want me to come visit after Christmas. I just have to keep my grades up," he finished. FOX Sports Next will keep you posted on K.J. McElvaney.
