Garcia shocked over Holtz decison
USF commitment Robert Garcia (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) was stunned at the news of the firing of Skip Holtz. Now he's trying to pick up the pieces and figure out his next move. "I am stick with South Florida for now," Garcia said. "But I have to say that this news took me off my feet. I am shocked. I was not expecting this. This just goes to show you how the real world works." Garcia, 6-foot-4 and 265-pounds, was recruited by Kevin Patrick and others for the Bulls. He was going to first get an opportunity to play on the defensive side of the ball at tackle. "I get along great with those coaches," Garcia said. "KP [Kevin Patrick, DL coach] took me under his wings. We have a great relationship. I talked with coach Holtz a handful of times and really liked him a lot. I liked what he had to say and they were going to first give me a shot at defensive tackle. If that didn't work out I know I would move over to [offensive] to guard. I just want that opportunity to play defensive tackle." Air Force and Navy are two schools that have offered Garcia as well. They have both continued to recruit him. "Like I said, I am sticking with them now but I will look at some other options," Garcia said. "I would like to take some visits. I will talk with coach Patrick and get his thoughts and see where he stands. The process is more confusing than anything. "I know I want to visit Navy for sure. "That's a whole new lifestyle so I have to see them for myself. I need to see if I like it. I can't visit Air Force if I am committed to another school. Iowa State is another team I am interested in."
