Green's Playoff Run Ends with Title
Two weeks ago, Toledo Central Catholic defeated Avon in the Ohio Division-II regional final, and sophomore Chris Green impressed from his middle linebacker spot. Last Friday, Green came up big once again as his team defeated Trotwood-Madison 16-12 to win the state championship. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound, Green is a top 2015 prospect in Ohio, and one to watch going forward. "I am so excited and very happy for my teammates," Green stated after the win. "I did all this for my seniors, and tonight belongs to them, because I have two more years left at Central Catholic. I played as hard as I could tonight, and they were a great team." "I'm proud of how we played, and the sack I had on the quarterback for the safety was really a big play for us," he added. "I saw the quarterback standing there, so I shot the gap and nailed him. I was so excited because that gave us a 16-0 lead, but then we had to hold on." Even though he is a fairly new name in recruiting circles in Ohio, Green is going to be a name to remember. "Nothing is really happening yet, but I'm still young," Green explained. "I'd love to hear from schools like Ohio State and Michigan, but I still have to prove myself. The Ohio State coaches were here tonight, so maybe they saw something they liked from me." EVALUATION: Liked him very much two weeks ago, and like Chris Green even more today. He stepped up his game on the biggest stage, and made big plays when his team needed him the most. His safety changed the complexion of the game, and he showed his speed and great football instincts on the play. In the title game, Green was on the field with Division-I recruits Jayme Thompson (Ohio State), Cameron Burrows (Ohio State), Michael McCray (Michigan) and Reon Dawson (Illinois), but the sophomore out-played all of them. He is definitely a future Division-I college recruit.
