Watson Visiting Before Committing
Hales Franciscan defensive end Jordan Watson is a big, athletic, 6'5, 250-lb senior who quickly gained steam in his recruitment this month, as he earned several offers after the completion of his season. "I have three offers, Florida Atlantic, Purdue, and Southern Illinois," he said. "It feels real good. My hard work is paying off." The Boilermakers are the most recent school to offer, and were Watson's first BCS offer. "I've been there three times. I think it's a real good family environment. I like the school a lot. It has all been unofficials. I'm supposed to be taking my official in January." Watson was actually offered after the coaching change in West Lafayette, and he reiterated that Danny Hope not being there will not take Purdue off his list. "They're still one of my top picks right now. Whoever gets there, it's not going to affect my decision." Once Watson's film hit the airwaves and the 15 sacks he recorded in a dominant season could be seen in recruiting offices around the country, he saw more and more schools come through. "I'm going on an official to San Diego State on Friday. Central Michigan just left my school, I have an official in January. Western Kentucky calls my phone every week. My coach told me Eastern Michigan is supposed to offer me tomorrow." A decision is not expected soon, but Watson does have something in mind. "I think I could make my decision after I take all my officials if everything plays out how I think, after my last one, I'll know where I want to go." When he does make that choice, there are several key factors which will play in. "How they treat me, their program have in place for student athletes, the school overall, and I want to get that feeling like I belong here. That's the main thing for me and how the coaches treat me. That's about it."
