FSU was Offer Hollin 'Couldn't Pass Up'
Being from Miami (FL), JUCO defensive end Desmond Hollin was hoping for the chance to be able to play close to home. When Florida State offered, it was an opportunity he had to take. "Today I had the chance to talk to coach Odell Haggins," Hollin explained. "He really told me a lot. He talked about the depth chart a lot and how there's an opportunity for me to play right away. It was just an offer I couldn't turn down. I'm excited to be a Seminole." Growing up, Hollin was a Miami Hurricanes fan. He had hoped for an offer from the 'Canes out of high school, but that never came. When Florida State came calling, he felt it was the right choice. "I mean it's cool to be able to play for Florida State," Hollin offered. "Growing up a Miami fan, when I knew they weren't going to offer, I had to take Florida State. I just knew it was the right place. "It'll be fun being in that FSU/Miami rivalry, just not on the side I always thought I'd be on. I can't wait for that. I'm going to come out and try to have my best games in that. It'll be fun." When Hollin made his decision, he received positive reaction from both the Florida State coaching staff and his family. Those reactions reaffirmed that he had made the correct choice. "Coach Stoops was shocked," Hollin admitted. "I had told everybody I was going to wait until after my visits. But there's no need to see other schools. This was it. Me being a Florida guy, I've been down there a lot and I know how it is even without an official. I'm pretty familiar with the campus. "My mom cried when I told her. She just told me it was a good decision. She told me to take God with me every step. She said she was proud of me and that I've come a long way." Hollin chose Florida State over offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Marshall, Purdue, and Middle Tennessee. He marks the 18th commitment in the Seminoles' 2013 class.
