Chris Martin (6'4/260) is a well traveled defensive end / outside linebacker prospect. Before his senior season even began in 2009, Martin had transferred from Bishop O'Dowd in California to the Hun School in New Jersey, and then to Grandview in Colorado.
Martin made a verbal commitment to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, before signing with Cal, transferred to Florida before he ever put on a helmet at Cal, then left Florida after one year and went to Navarro Community College for the 2011 season.
Martin surfaced this year at City College of San Francisco where he still flashes his trademark dominance off the edge for the Rams.
Martin has already taken an official visit to Washington State (11/30) and will visit Kansas and Charlie Weis, who recruited him at Notre Dame, this weekend.
The Cougars and Jayhawks likely understand that getting Martin is a one year proposition at best. Technically, he is NFL Draft eligible this spring, and the NFL may be his best option rather than trying to keep jumping through NCAA academic hoops.
It doesn't take long to see why teams have been, and will continue to be interested in Martin. He's a "one play offer" type of player. All it takes is one play and you offer him a scholarship.
