Right now, Reece Metcalf says recruiting is just starting up, but there has been some light contact.
"They've just been sending me information about some camps, but that's about all I've gotten for now," he said.
Right on the Indiana-Illinois border, Mt. Carmel is technically in Illinois, but they play teams in both states.
As more schools find out about Metcalf, it is likely that they will be finding their way to town. He has size (6'3, 185-lbs), and was productive as a junior completing 72 percent of his passes (160 of 221) for 2,466 yards and 22 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He also added 534 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
"This was my first year of actually starting on varsity. Last year I was the backup. It was definitely something I enjoyed a lot (being the starter). We just put in a new offense this year, a no huddle, spread offense to give me an opportunity to throw the ball a lot more. I enjoyed it a lot. I really liked the fast paced tempo we used."
As more attention comes, Metcalf will not be picky about who he hears from.
"I'd honestly take anything I can get because college football is something I'd really be interested in doing."
Metcalf is currently in the midst of basketball season, but is still in the weight room and throwing the football when he can. He will play baseball in the spring.
