After seeing his top three schools all fire their head coaches in the last month, La Mirada (Calif.)…
Kaleopaa Will Visit
Koa Kaleopaa was meticulously patient in the recruiting process all season, but now the three-star linebacker from La Mirada (Calif.) is beginning to narrow things down. Kaleopaa has a total of 10 offers on the table but named his top five, in no particular order, to be Nevada, UCLA, Arkansas, California and Ole Miss. "I plan on taking all five official visits to those schools once the break is over," Kaleopaa said. Kaleopaa, who typically remains rather quiet about his recruitment, recently posted to his twitter account "#CalGang2013". When asked if that was any indication of a possible upcoming commitment to the Golden Bears Kaleopaa said: "They're definitely up there and I'd say I'm leaning towards them." He also emphasized what he'll be looking for out of all five officials. "If I feel like I'm at home and I like it," he said. "The team, the facilities, all of that stuff. I'm just trying to see which one really stands out the most." Also on Kaleopaa's radar is the position he'll play at the next level. The six-foot-two 250-pounder played middle linebacker in high school but is open to any position change a coaching staff feels is necessary. "Most coaching staffs are telling me linebacker or defensive end," he said. "I'm open to whatever." And Kaleopaa's open mindedness will serve him well moving forward. One coaching staff, he says, brought up something very interesting to fit their particular style. "Nevada actually asked me if I had ever carried the ball as a fullback before," he said. "They use the pistol with a lot of backs in the backfield so maybe I could end up blocking and carrying the ball a little. I told them I was a running back in pop warner." Whatever position Kaleopaa ends up may not be as important as where he ends up. He says he is giving SEC schools Arkansas and Ole Miss a fair chance but he considers himself a West Coast guy. "I'd like to stay close so my family can see me play and they wouldn't have to travel so far," he said.
