Banda Sees "Bright" Future at Arizona
Senior defensive end Jack Banda completed his high school career as one of the best in a county known for producing top college football talent. Last week, Banda competed in the Gwinnett County (GA) All-Star Game at Peachtree Ridge High School. "It means a lot," Banda said of the experience. "It's a lot of fun to meet new people and compete...that's the best thing." Banda and his fellow all-star selections faced nearly freezing temperatures in Atlanta during the coldest week of the season to date. "It was tough playing in the cold," Banda admitted. "But it was fun to get back out [on the field] and play again." With his time in a high school jersey complete, Banda will no longer face those chilly Georgia evenings. "I'm going to Arizona," Banda said of his verbal commitment. "It's going to be nice and hot out there...never cold weather like this. It's going to be a lot of fun. "Coach [Rich] Rodriguez is starting up a new program and turning things around." Facing a bright future at Arizona, Banda admits to primetime postseason goals as well. "We're competing to get to the Rose Bowl," Banda said of his future team. "It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm going to get a lot bigger. I'll bring my speed, my heart and my will to play." As for others still in the hunt for his collegiate commitment, Banda shakes his head. "Nope. I'm 100% Arizona."
