Taylor Prefers to Hit

East St. Louis (Ill.) junior Greg Taylor is a good athlete who can play both sides of the ball, but likes defense better.

East St. Louis has a good group of returning juniors and sophomores, one they hope to lead them back to the state title game in 2013.

One of the key returnees is class of 2014 athlete Greg Taylor, who has played defensive back, running back and wide receiver. The 5'11, 176-lb Taylor is also one of a handful of players on the team hearing from colleges.

"I've heard from Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Kansas, Virginia and Minnesota," he said. "I been to Kentucky Illinois came and talked to me and I'm going to Kansas this January."

A former Flyer, Glenn Faulkner, plays for the Wildcats, and Taylor says he enjoyed his time in Lexington when going up for the game.

"I saw a huge campus full of fans and I really liked it because I kind of could see myself being around that type of environment."

On film, Taylor makes big plays at all of his positions, whether it's big runs, catches or interceptions on defense. He could project to either side of the ball, but does have a preference right now.

"I like defense better. It's always better to dish out the hits."
