Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic safety Dallin Leavitt breaks down his official visit to BYU…
Leavitt Ready For Visit
Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic safety and BYU commit Dallin Leavitt is headed to Provo this weekend and he won't be going alone. "I am going on Friday. Tanner Shipley, Brayden Kearsley and Johnny Ragin are coming down too," said Leavitt. "The coaches have come over like three times in the last two contact periods. The first time it was coach Howell and Poppinga, then Doman when he was there, then the last time coach Anae and Poppinga. Anae was a GA when my dad was there, so it was really comfortable." Leavitt has a close bond with each of the other Portland area recruits. "Well Brayden is my best friend, I have grown up with him since the third grade," said Leavitt. "I talk to him about it all the time. He likes BYU and Oregon State; I think this official will be big with him. We grew up playing with each other, it sucked that we couldn't play together in HS, hopefully at next level we join forces again." "It's not work, Tanner and Johnny come over every Sunday to eat dinner with me and my family. It's not a recruiting process, not convincing, I just want the best for them," said Leavitt. "It's completely their decisions. I know Johnny just went to Cal and liked it, if that is best for him then he should do that. But I think the situation of me Tanner and Johnny at BYU will be the best for all of us." Ragin will be taking another official visit next weekend to Iowa, while Shipley just decided to trip to California on the 25th last night. Leavitt wants to play early at BYU and has been speaking with the staff about where they see him. "Actually I was just talking to coach Howell and he told me free safety is the main position, but I can also play nickel, which they play a lot of," said Leavitt. "I can start at that spot. He told me I could also play boundary corner, be a big physical corner." Leavitt doesn't play any other sports and is focused on getting ready for BYU in the fall. "It's just football year round, just training and starting the film study and figuring out what BYU does defensively," said Leavitt. "Get ready physically, but especially mentally."
