"I committed Saturday night," Johnson said. "Going in to the visit, I knew if things went well, I would go ahead and commit and that's how it played out. I knew right away on Friday that UCLA was the place for me. I just really felt comfortable there with the players and coaches.
"UCLA was just the best overall fit for me and offered me everything I was looking for. They have a good football program that is getting better, they have great academics, I like the coaching staff and I'll have a chance to compete for playing time right away."
Johnson said location didn't really play a factor but was an added bonus.
"I would have left home if I felt like it was the best place for me," Johnson said. "At the same time, I'm glad to stay on the West Coast and I always planned to play in the Pac 12. If you're a receiver or corner, why would you want to play anywhere else?
"They pass the ball like crazy in the Pac 12 so I always knew I wanted to play in this conference. I want to challenge myself and you also have the chance to make a lot of plays and that's what I'm looking forward to doing. I'm very happy to have this commitment out of the way and I'm thrilled to be a Bruin."
