Weber Picks Up Wolverine Offer
Michigan became the latest school to offer Detroit Cass Tech sophomore running back Mike Weber today, joining Illinois and Syracuse on the 5'9, 190-lber's list. "Coach Wilcher told me [about the offer]," Weber said. "I think the running back coach, Coach Jackson, was at the school today, but I already knew about the offer before he was there." On receiving the offer, Weber said, "I was really excited. I feel really good about it. Michigan's one of the best schools in the country, and I was surprised when I got the offer. This offer boosts me up in the recruiting process." Word had spread recently that Weber's top school was Ohio State. He says while he likes the Buckeyes a lot, he does not have a favorite at this time. "With the Buckeyes, the dude that was interviewing misunderstood what I said. He asked me who were the top schools that are going to offer me soon and I put them in my top category. He said put it from one to three. Ohio State is one of my favorites, but I don't have a number one. Everybody is in the same category." Growing up, Weber says he watched two schools in particular. "I liked Michigan, cause I live in Michigan, so I grew up watching Charles Woodson and Alabama, I like Alabama a lot." As for visits, Weber says, "I'm going to visit Michigan this Thursday and then Penn State." He also says a decision is a long way out. "I want to commit at an All-American game. I've always wanted to do that. If that doesn't work out, I'll commit before my senior year."
