Ragin Flips to Cal
Wilsonville (Ore.) outside linebacker Johnny Ragin III committed to BYU back in December, choosing the Cougars over an offer from California. However, a coaching change at Cal, including bringing in assistant Barry Sacks who had recruited Ragin at Nevada, opened things back up. "I flipped tonight," said Ragin. "After sitting down with my mom and my family I felt like it was the right thing to do. Just the combination of academics and athletics." Before making the commitment to Cal, Ragin had to reach out to the coaches at BYU. "We had to make a call," said Ragin. "I hate to go back on my word, but in this situation I have to be a little selfish and do what is best for me." Ragin talked about what won him over to Cal in the end. "It was just everything," said Ragin. "Just the process of learning more and going there." He got to make a happier call later in the night to the coaching staff at Cal. "They were ecstatic," said Ragin. "They are ready to get me down there and get to work." "It is definitely a relief that everything is over," said Ragin. "But I am really grateful for the opportunities I had throughout the process." Jake Worthen is a West Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com. Follow him on Twitter | Contact him at E-Mail | .
