Peyton Barber has become a hot commodity as of late, picking up late offers from Texas, among others. The three-star RB took an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend. Where does his recruitment stand now?

"It really did (solidify my commitment)," Barber said. "I just wanted to see how I clicked with the players, and I feel like I fit in great with them. We all bonded all weekend."

D.T. Shackelford was his player host for the weekend.

"We had a lot in common. D.T. was a great host. He showed me everything around town and introduced all of the players to me. D.T. went out of his way to make me feel at home and was a gracious host. He answered all of my questions. He told me the way it really is around there."

The Rebels are lacking a big bruising back in their offense, which hasn't gone unnoticed by Barber.

"That's one of the things that stands out most about Ole Miss for me. I know I'm going to be the only big back there. That gives me the opportunity to come in next year and get some playing time."

Another big factor in his decision to attend Ole Miss next fall are its coaches.

"They're what sold me on Ole Miss. They just go the extra mile to make you feel wanted in their program. They're genuine and down-to-earth guys. They have a strong religious background, too, and that's what I'm looking for."

Scout.com's No. 52 rated running back blew up late on the recruiting scene after he rushed for 1,980 yards and 25 touchdowns this season.

Along with the late offer from Texas, he was offered by UCLA, Florida State, Wisconsin, Tennessee and several others in the past few months. Barber took in official visits to UCLA and Tennessee over the last few weeks and was supposed to return to Auburn for an official visit next weekend.

"I don't think I'm going to Auburn now. I'm pretty set on Ole Miss."
