Proviso West (Ill.) 2013 defensive back Jameer Thurman has made his college decision.
"I have committed to Indiana State," Thurman said.
Thurman had offers from North Dakota, Illinois State, Western Illinois and Indiana State. In the past two weekends he tripped to see North Dakota and Indiana State.
"It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made," Thurman said. "Both schools offered me the same academically and athletically. They were even after me the longest but It came down to family support and being closer to my family."
Even though it was a hard decision, Thurman knew Indiana State was the best fit for him.
"Some of the reasons I chose Indiana State were that I loved the football facilities. The coaching staff and the academics," Thurman said. "They have a great engineering program and I related to the players well."
He added, "And the strength and conditioning coach I got along with very well."
When asked what Thurman liked the most about Indiana State's defense, the answer was simple.
"First off I love the coaches and they want me to play strong safety and come down hard for run support," Thurman said. "That is something I have been doing my whole life and I would love to continue it."
He continued, "Also they told me I have an opportunity to play early."
Thurman also has some thoughts for Indiana State fans after reflecting on his commitment.
"I plan to help us become one of the elite teams in the country," Thurman said.
