Elijah Mitchell talks Nevada Commitment
Elijah Mitchell visited the Nevada Wolfpack January 25th – 27th and two days afterwards he decided it was the place for him. "I was very impressed up there," Mitchell said. "The family, the environment, I just felt at home." Mitchell had taken official visits to Wisconsin (track offer) and Army previously but says the coaching staff at Nevada put in the most effort in his recruitment. "They showed a lot of interest, more interest than I had seen from anybody else," he said. "You have to feel wanted at a school and I really feel wanted there." On the field, Mitchell has tremendous speed and can be effective wherever needed, and he says the Nevada staff concurs. "They said they'd like to put me on the field where I best fit and use my speed to their advantage," he said. "They want to put me on the field as soon as possible." One of the wrinkles in Mitchell's recruitment was his two-sport capability. His talent on the track was the reason for an offer from the Badgers of Wisconsin, but the Wolfpack do not have a men's track team. How tough was that? "It was tough," he said. "But in the long run I just felt comfortable at Nevada. If I have to sacrifice one thing to ensure a good future, it's what I have to do." Looking ahead, Mitchell says he can't wait to start competing on the field. "Just getting out there, getting after it and establishing my self on the field," he said. "It's a new step in my life so and I'm ready for it."
