Nickerson can't wait

Parry Nickerson

Tulane signee Parry Nickerson goes on the record with his reaction to officially joining the Green Wave's 2013 class. The Tulane staff believes it got a steal in Nickerson, who will team up with veterans such as Darion Monroe and Jordan Batiste in the program's secondary of the future...

Parry Nickerson was quite pleased to sign his letter of intent with Tulane.

"It feels great," he said. "You're getting the chance to see how it really is (on the next level), and I couldn't have done it without my team and my coaches.

"My mom, cousins and sisters are here (at the signing day ceremony). They're very excited. I was the first person awake in the house this morning. I had to wake up everybody else. I was the first person out the door, actually, so I was eager to get here."

As mentioned in a previous article, Nickerson never wavered after committing to Tulane last summer.

"Tulane was one of the first offers I had," he said. "Late during the process Cincinnati offered me, but if they had been wanting me they would've already offered, so I saw no need to go there.

"I had a great experience during my visit to Tulane and experienced the college life."

Nickerson was the talk of Tulane's huge recruiting weekend in January.

The fellow commits and visitors were in awe of his tape.

"I have great ball skills and footwork and hips," he said. "I like to play press coverage a lot."

Nickerson likes being a part of something local at Tulane.

"I can't wait," he said. "Then they have the new stadium being built so we're going to be one of the first classes that gets to play in it."
