Terre Haute (Ind.) South Vigo 2014 DT-OL Junior Berry talks about his first offer and the other schools interested in him.

An MVP performer at the recent Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis, Junior Berry has now followed that up by adding his first offer of the process, as Ball State extended one his way on Tuesday.

"It felt pretty good," he said. "It's just an ice breaker for more things to happen down the road to get more offers, puts my name out there, and I'm pretty excited about it."

The offer came on a visit to Muncie, and Berry liked what he saw of the program.

"When I was down there, they were showing me how they're really connected to the football players, the academics, a lot of things like that. The campus is pretty cool. It's compact, everything is only in a six minute radius, so you can be on time to your classes. The people over there are great. They were coming up to me, making me feel like I'm part of Ball State University."

The 6'2, 302-lb Berry, both during the season and at camps and events, has shown his prowess on both sides of the ball, and could play either in college, but the Cardinals have a plan in mind for him.

"They say I'm good on both sides, but they really want me to have that defensive mentality, so they want me to play on the defensive side of the ball."

While this was offer number one, Berry has heard from a number of other schools.

"A lot from Purdue and Indiana. I have a few letters from Iowa. I got letters from Missouri. BYU is one of the top ones. Those are main ones I usually get a lot of interest from."

Berry has a visit planned to Indiana for their basketball game against Ohio State, and has already been to Bloomington one time this winter. Last weekend, he went down to West Lafayette and visited Purdue for their junior day.

"Purdue was really similar to when I went to visit Western Michigan, but it's a really good school. It's an old fashioned kind of school. The coaches showed me lot of interest and were talking to me a lot. I was kind of upset some of the coaches I wanted to talk to were busy, but other than that, the visit was good."

As a junior, Berry was selected first team All-Conference and All-State.
