Cage to visit Cajuns
2014 RB Shannon Cage attended LSU's second junior day last month, and he'll be present at the Ragin' Cajuns' upcoming event this month. "I got a lot of invites to UL games last year," Cage said, "and I was invited to their junior day. I didn't make any games last year. "UL has a nice Division 1 program that I could see myself playing at. I've also talked with Coach (Jon) Sumrall from Tulane. He said they'll be getting back in touch." As a junior Cage averaged over 100 rushing yards per game for Class 3A Independence, which posted a 5-5 mark. "I ran for 1,007 yards with 10 touchdowns on 160 carries," he said. "My goals for my senior season are to help my team win state, rush for at least 1,500 yards, and score at least 15 touchdowns. "I have a 3.85 grade point average and scored a 19 - 75 composite - on my first ACT. My best game last year was against Amite: 28 carries for 247 yards and three touchdowns, and we won." Cage, who kicks off the outdoor track and field season next week, runs on the 4 X 100 and 4 X 200 relay teams. The 5-10, 230-pounder is fine-tuning his skills for his final year on the prep level. "I'm working to improve my speed, footwork and endurance," he said. "I want to be in top-top shape where I never have to come out of the game. "I also want to improve at making cuts and having better vision. I'm trying to play around 215 to 220 pounds as a senior; I have a personal trainer working with me."
