Elam makes visit, adds offer
Matthew Elam has had an eventful last month. He's added three FBS offers in the last few weeks and has been to three Junior Days with one more to go. Matthew Elam, 6-foot-6, 340-pounds, picked up an offer this week from another in-state program. "I just got offered by Western Kentucky (Tuesday)," Elam said. "I didn't know a lot about the program, but I did know they have a great new head coach in Bobby Petrino," Elam said. Elam checked out the Western Kentucky campus and felt like what he saw was comparable to what he had seen at Kentucky and Alabama. "It was a good trip. I got to see their facilities. It's nice. It's really nice. It competes with the other big programs," said Elam. Elam also got a chance to spend time with his position coach, individually and he had a chance to talk with Petrino. "The coaching staff was nice. I really like their defensive tackles coach, Don Dunn. And I talked to coach Petrino. He's a real nice man. He really knows what he's doing. I think they will turn the program around. It was an all around god trip," said Elam. Elam also confirmed that all three of the schools who have offered are indeed recruiting him on the defensive side of the ball. The John Hardin (Ky.) junior will be visiting Tennessee in two weeks.
