Q & A with Phoenix (Ariz.) Desert Vista wide receiver

FoxSportsNext: What is your official height and weight?
Anthony Reaves: "I am a 6'3 220 lb."

What is your greatest football memory?
"My favorite football memory was when we played in the Sollenberger classic and nothing could describe the feeling of fighting with a band of brothers in a close game and coming out victorious that started off the season right."

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
"My goal for the upcoming season is to win state. we recently lost a key member to our Desert Vista family and the biggest thing he wanted from us before he died was for us to win state. We will do everything we can to not let him down and this year we will play for him."

How are you preparing for the upcoming season? Will you attend any camps this summer?
"I am preparing for this season by working out twice a day, lifting weights in the morning and speed and agility in the afternoon. I will be going to the Nike Invite camps in Oregon and Dallas."

What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on?
"The aspect of my game I am currently working on is my speed. I was timed at a 4.7 40 and I need to get that down.

Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?
"Some of my teammates that people should be looking at this upcoming season is defensive back William Barfield, wide receiver Richard Haywood, tight end Jordan Rezac, d-end Jalen Jelks, middle linebacker Matt Trujillo, running backs Isaiah Kilby, Cullen Vangosen, Bobby Del Gado and Terrance Roberts and quarterback Brendan Smith. These players will be Key pieces to our championship run."

Name one teammate you really respect and why?
"The teammate I really respect is my best friend Jalen Jelks; he pushes me to be great everyday when we work out we try to out do each other and push each other to be great. I know when I look down that D-line and its the 4th quarter and its a close game, Jalens going to give it his all.

Who is currently recruiting you? Do you have any offers yet?
"Hopefully I will get an offer soon but the colleges that are recruiting me are Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Utah, Iowa State, Arizona, New Mexico State, and San Jose State."

What would your top 5 college choices be?
"My top 5 college choices are ASU, U of A, Boise St., Colorado and Utah."

Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?
"The best player I've ever played against is Cole Luke from Hamilton High School. His ablity to understand the game is terrific his abilty to read routes and his make up speed is ridiculous you may think you have him beat but he makes up for it. I want to wish him the best of luck next year at Notre Dame."

What other sports do you play?
"I play basketball in order to stay in shape up until Spring ball."

How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?
"My coach would describe me as a hardworking, humble player and if he needs a big play he can trust me to get it done."

What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
"My strengths as a player is the ability to be a deep threat and go up and over defenders and catch the toughest balls. My weakness is of course my speed but I continue everyday to get faster."

Who is your favorite athlete and why?
"My favorite athlete is Anquan Boldin. He's my favorite because he reminds me of myself we both run 4.7 40's but on the field we show that speeds not everything its the will to win and make plays is what counts."

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
"The best advice someone has ever gave me was to stay humble and never stop working because theirs people out there who is physically gifted like me but what separates us is how hard each other works."

Tell us what can we expect from your team this season?
"This season I expect our team to come together and play as a family and play hard for one another and shock Arizona when Desert Vista is holding up that state championship next year."

What position do you think you will play in college?
"I see myself playing Tight-end, D-end, wide receiver or linebacker in college."

What is your GPA and SAT/ACT score?
"I have a 3.0 GPA."

What will the main factors be when you choose a school?
"My main factors in picking a college is how far it is from Arizona, how nice the campus is and if they have a nice criminal Justice department because I am a student athlete and school comes first."
